Big announcement! Paragon Jousting has a new show in New York for 2007. We will be jousting for 2 days at the Celebration of Celts on May 5 and 6, 2007. We will be showcasing a joust between Robert the Bruce and King Edward of England. The show is in Ghent, New York, which is just off Rt I-90 on 9H south. More details to come.

We will also be returning to the Hudson Valley Mayfaire in 2007. This three day event is May 4, 5 and 6.

What's that you say? Two shows an hour apart on the same weekend? Can it be done? We're Paragon Jousting, of course it can. Paragon Jousting has experienced tremendous growth over the past year and we're proud to say we can be in two places at once. Paragon Jousting will be very busy in The Empire State in 2007.

Just when you thought we took November off, Paragon Jousting is at it again. On November 14th, 2006, Paragon Jousting is providing an armored combat demo for a Scout Troop in Westford, Mass. It is a private show, and we will be demonstrating historical armored combat techniques on foot for about 50 Scouts.

Okay, that's not the big news. We've got our NEW!!! Promotional Video online and available for download. This is two parts. Firstly, click here to download the newest DivX Codec for Windows. If you're running a Mac, click here. Once you've got the latest DivX Codec, you can then watch the new Paragon Jousting Promo. It's 11MB in size so it may take a while to download. I promise, it's worth the wait.

And our webmaster is furiously working on a gallery for the 2006 Connecticut Renaissance Faire

. With over 1000 photos to go through, we'll start getting pictures up soon. Please keep checking back.

Another fantastic weekend at The Connecticut Renaissance Faire has brought about an end to Paragon's 2006 season. Congratulations go to CTRF owners for breaking the magical number of 30000 people for this run. They've raised the bar and are proving they are here to stay. Paragon is proud to call CTRF our home faire.

We had an amazing tournament this past weekend with all of Paragon's Knights winning ribbons in different categories. Complete results will be posted once all the dust has settled and everyone has had a chance to relax a bit. But we would like to send a congratulations to our good friend Robb Earhart from Roundtable Productions who was named the Tournament Grand Champion. Two days of near constant competing took a toll on knights, squires and our three Masters of the List. I bet the horses were tired too. But everyone had a great time, the audience enjoyed themselves, and people had an opportunity to push themselves in areas they had not previously done. There were a lot of surprises, especially when a squire won the ring competition over 8 knights. Lots of pictures from this event as well which will be posted as soon as we can get them organized. Thanks go to everyone involved and to The Connecticut Renaissance Faire for allowing us to hold this first every fully armored jousting tournament in New England at their faire.

WOW! That's the best I can do to describe the third weekend of The Connecticut Renaissance Faire. Great weather and record breaking crowds. The numbers according to reliable sources have the three day weekend attendance at 13661 people including an amazing 6004 people on Sunday alone. CTRF has shattered their previous four weekend attendance record of 22500 with 23747 people through the gates thus far, and there's still one more weekend to go.

As for Paragon, we had a great time with all those people out there. We had a fun moment in one show as Sir William got the 2000 or so people watching to sing Happy Birthday to Tiny. The horses ran great all weekend long and everyone had a great time. Nine shows in three days, everyone, including the horses, is tired and happy.

This weekend is the tournament we've been talking so much about. An 8 horse competitive joust in association with our friends at Roundtable Productions. Two full days of knightly tournaments on horseback and on foot. This is something to be seen. There's never been anything like this in New England before and who knows if it will ever be done again. This event promises to be as exciting for the people watching as it will be for our knights.

We have just returned from a very successful second weekend of The Connecticut Renaissance Faire. With a fantastic school show on Friday, record attendance on Saturday (to follow record opening day attendance the week before) it more than made up for a rainy, yet highly entertaining, Sunday. Among other things, Jedi made his JOUSTING debut. At times, we had as many as four horses on the field at the same time.

Also making a return was Sir Padraig in his debut as Paragon's Master of the List. And Seth took a weekend off from that position to return to his squiring roots.

As always, it's great fun to be back at CTRF with those great crowds. Receptive and enthusiastic don't begin to describe the reactions we got from the thousands of people in attendance. We're all looking forward to returning this coming weekend and mixing it up a bit to give our audiences something new every time they see Paragon Jousting. We'll have pictures up just as soon as we can.

We're also looking ahead to the final weekend where we will have an 8 horse competitive joust in association with our friends at Roundtable Productions. Two full days of knightly tournaments on horseback and on foot. This is something never before seen in New England so you don't want to miss it.

As we get closer to show time, we've made more updates all over the site. New pictures for most of the horses and some of the people. Most notably, an updated bio for our head squire, Mary.

2006-08-27

As we look forward to our next show just three weeks away and the opening of The Connecticut Renaissance Faire in four weeks, we took a little time out to update our website a bit.

Firstly, Paragon has added a new equine performer to the herd in Skittles, a 7 year old Quarter Horse Gelding. We've also got a new human member in Christina Gontowski. And we've also got some updates on the pages for Frank and our dear departed friend Diablo.

2006-08-16

The Paragon crew has just returned for 4 days on the road. Our first stop was The Catskill Mountain Renaissance Faire in Cairo, NY. We performed three horse shows and one armored demo each on Saturday and Sunday. This was the debut show for Frank Walker who comes to Paragon with vast armored fighting experience. Frank has proven a valuable addition to the Paragon staff. Along with Seth Holmes, he performed armored demos in the afternoon and ground fighting in the evenings. A great time was had by all as more than 3000 people came through the gates over the weekend. We're already looking forward to next year's show.

Monday, we traveled from eastern New York to western Connecticut where we performed a show for more than 300 campers at Kenwood and Kenmont Camps. The boys and girls of these camps really got behind Scott and Becca representing Kenmont and Kenwood respectively. This was the kick-off to their color wars events. Much like last year, Paragon Jousting was a surprise for the campers. This time we performed for their second session. While they generally rotate who they bring in every 6 years or so, they're trying to find an excuse to bring Paragon back next year. It always feels great to know that people not only love to see you, they love to see you again. The girls were certainly more vocal than the boys this day, but everyone was fantastic. We can't wait to go back.

  • A Mounted Competitive Joust

The entire tournament will culminate in a final joust to decide the tournament champion on Sunday, October 15th. A mix of riders from all over the Northeast will compete in this tournament, the first of it's kind in New England.

And tomorrow, we hit the road for three days of shows in New York and Connecticut. Check out our Schedule Page for all the details.

We had a great time in Paragon's first official show in Maine. Scott and Seth performed armored demos while Becca and Beorn squired and took part in unarmored demos for 150 or so Boy Scouts at Camp O-At-Ka in Sebago, ME. One of the highlights of the event was the rather brief wrestling match between "Fiona" and "Tiny". All the kids had a great time and the program director at the camp informed us that the kids were still talking about it today. We're hoping to make this an annual event.

2006-07-14

First, we've added a VTRF Photo Gallery. More pictures are forth coming. We've got hundreds to go through. Also keep watching for updated profiles.

Also, Scott and Seth are headed to Maine to perform an armored combat demo for 150 scouts at O-At-Ka Camp on Sebago Lake. This is a private show but learn where you can see Paragon Jousting on our Schedule Page.

The Vermont Renaissance Festival is going great. Both Paladin and Jedi have made appearances at this event in Greenfield, MA. Everyone in Paragon is having a great time as we head into the final weekend. Keep checking back as we will be posting pictures from this event as well as Medieval Majesty soon.

We've also added a new show on Saturday, September 16th to our Schedule Page. Paragon Jousting has been asked to perform as the headlining act for a fund raiser at Mitchell Farm, an equine retirement and rescue farm in Lyme, CT. As we all know, jousters would be nowhere without their horses and we think these folks are doing great work. Please help us to support Mitchell Farm.

Firstly, if you haven't already looked, there's a new gallery for the ISD Faire Paragon members performed at for our friends at Roundtable Productions. Originally we only expect Scott to be jousting but in the end it was both he and Becca who took the field. We have another 400 pictures to go through from a second photographer and we'll be adding those pictures to the gallery soon.

Secondly, Scott and Becca have returned from two weeks in PA performing for Roundtable Productions at Medieval Majesty. Apollo made the trip along with Paladin who made his public debut as a Master of the List mount. We're all very proud of our equine performers.

Finally, we just got back from opening weekend of The Vermont Renaissance Festival which was filled with debuts.

First was Seth as Master of the List, Sir William Sidney. While this was not his first time as MoL, it was the first time he'd done it from horseback.

This brings us to our NEXT debut which is Jedi. Jedi got many ooohs and ahhhs and was complimented many times on what a beautiful horse he is. Everyone loved Paragon Jousting's newest four legged performer.

And lastly, Sabrina made her debut as Squire Kate performing for the first time with Paragon Jousting. She did a great job, worked very hard and had a great time. Everyone is looking forward to returning this coming weekend.

2006-06-13

What a weekend. The Paragon crew had a great time at The ISD Renaissance Faire as Scott and Becca jousted for Roundtable Productions. They performed three shows including a gaming show and a heavy armored joust. They also took part in a lightly armored joust which followed a bout of Crest and Baton. Lots of people have sent us pictures and we're putting together a gallery. We plan to have it up before the end of the week. Check back here for updates.

And speaking of our friends at Roundtable Productions, Scott and Becca are off to Linden, PA to perform with Roundtable at Medieval Majesty for the next two weekends. We'll post more news about this adventure as we get a report back from the field.

This of course leads right into opening weekend of The Vermont Renaissance Festival opening in Greenfield, MA on July 1 and running for three weekends. We look forward to seeing everyone there.

Two new things to announce this morning.

First, a new page on the site where we post some of the feedback we've received from people we've worked for. It is appropriately named Accolades.

Second, we have posted the pictures from the New Haven St Patrick's Day Parade back in March. We apologize for the delay.

Paragon Jousting just finished our first show of the year at the Hudson Valley Mayfaire in New Paltz, NY. Apollo did a fantastic job at his first public joust. We had a wonderful time at this great event, and would like to thank everyone at HVMF for their hospitality. We really enjoyed working at this show. We saw a lot of old friends and made some new ones in New York. Take a look at these great pictures. We have more to come.

We have an agreement to return again in 2007, and look forward to Jousting again for the Hudson Valley Mayfaire next year!

The summer is getting busy! Some of the Paragon Knights will be on the road in June, jousting for Roundtable Productions at some of their shows. Scott will be riding for Roundtable at the ISD Renaissance Festival in Greenwich, CT on June 10th. He'll be performing three times, riding against one of Roundtable's knights.

June 17th, 18th, 24th and 25th, Scott and Becca will be working for Roundtable in Pennsylvania at Medieval Majesty. This show may be Paladin's performing debut. Watch for more details.

2006-04-04

Looks like the 2006 season has begun!

Scott will be on the road again in late April. He'll be teaching a two-day stage combat workshop for the theater department at Wells College in Aurora, New York on April 28th and 29th. This will be his second time teaching at Wells, and he will be covering advanced principles of stage combat, for a class of about a dozen students.

2006-04-03

We're just over a month away from our first public joust show of the season. Check out our Schedule Page for details.

We've been making a lot of changes to the website. Firstly, we've added a new picture from this past weekend to the page of our newest equine performer, Jedi. He's been with us just over a week and he's taking part in all the jousting games. We've also added a profile for our newest human addition to the troupe, Sabrina. In addition, there have been updates to the profiles for Scott, Seth and Mister Mister.

2006-03-25

Paragon Jousting is pleased to announce that Scott has purchased a new horse! Jedi is a tall, dark, Morgan/Percheron cross from the Midwest. Be sure to check him out on the Performers Page.

2006-03-23

Mister Mister is FAMOUS! He and Scott appear on the new poster for The Hudson Valley Mayfaire. You can see the poster here.

2006-03-13

We had a great time in New Haven at the St Patrick's Day Parade marching with folks from The Connecticut Renaissance Faire. Apollo made his Paragon Debut in the parade marching alongside Mister Mister who, as usual, was excited to be seen (he thinks these parades are for him) and was showing off and posing for the cameras. People loved these horses so much, our squires had to literally hold back the New Haven crowds, who were not deterred by the weather.

2006-03-07

What a season this is shaping up to be. We just added the Hudson Valley Mayfaire to our Schedule Page and we're still getting inquiries for dates throughout the year. Keep checking back for more news.
