Meet the newest members of Paragon Jousting, Checker. Scott first met Checker in Wisconsin and decided to take the young Quarter Horse under his wing and teach him to be a joust horse. But you can read all about that by clicking on Checker's Profile.

We've also added pictures for Jennie Huling, Paragon Jousting's newest squire, and Shadow who has shown an immediate proficiency for jousting. Look for both at a tilt yard near you in 2008.

We sure hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. It's back to work for everyone including those of us here are Paragon Jousting. We've got some exciting news about new equine members of our team coming soon so keep checking back. In the meantime, check our Gallery Page for new pictures.

In case your missed our earlier announcement, Paragon Jousting is proud to be returning to the Celebration of Celts in 2008. The faire will be held Saturday and Sunday May 3 and 4 at the Columbia County Fair Grounds in Chatham, N.Y. We're very excited to be returning to this festival celebrating Celtic traditions, and we're not talking about the ones playing in Boston (but we're proud of them too).

We're halfway through the run of The Connecticut Renaissance Faire and all our new shows have been very well received. We're having a great time and looking forward to weekend three. And we've got also got a couple of new items for you to look at. First up is Paragon Jousting's newest four legged performer, Shadow. He's a solid black Paint that came to us all the way from Iowa and he has very quickly begun learning the job and making friends. The second new addition is squire Jennie Huling who joined us during the summer. We've now got her profile up and ready for viewing. Pictures should be coming along soon.

It's the second day of October which means that we've just returned from our opening weekend at The Connecticut Renaissance Faire and WOW what a weekend. We had some great fun with new shows and we're certain we showed the crowd things they've never seen before. The school day was likewise a lot of fun. We're all looking forward to week 2 which includes Columbus Day on Monday.

Also starting this weekend, come to Princess Tea Time at CTRF and you will get to meet Dame Fiona and Oberon. They were such a hit last year that they were asked to return this year. We've rearranged our schedule for the day so Fiona can attend where she will greet the children and tell them stories. A great time for all the little girls. We're told boys are unwelcome at Princess Tea Time, however special dispensation has been granted to Oberon.

Just two and a half weeks until we open at The Connecticut Renaissance Faire which set attendance records last year. We've got all kinds of exciting and new fun this year with people taking on all new roles. Come and meet the newest members of Paragon Jousting.

But that's not all, we were apparently enjoyed so much at A Celebration of Celts that they've already asked us back for 2008. So mark you calendars for May 2 and 3. We're all very excited to be returning to Ghent, NY for the largest Pan-Celtic event in the northeast.

Paragon Jousting has just completed five fabulous weekends at The Wisconsin Renaissance Faire. We'd all like to send a giant thank you to everyone there who made the entire experience wonderful. We had a lot of firsts out there not the least of which was that Sabrina Johnson, aka Kate, made her jousting debut and she's got many more to come.

On Wednesday, the crew drove down to Pennsylvania where they performed at Camp Island Lake. We had a fantastic time and we're looking forward to returning next year.

Coming up, Paragon Jousting will be returning to Mitchell Farm, an equine retirement and rescue farm, for the 3rd Annual Gala in Celebration of the Horse. We were very well received last year and we are featured in this article in the Hartford Courant. We've been looking forward to this event where we not only get to perform for all these equine enthusiasts, but we also get to play spectator to all kinds of horse related exhibitions. Our favorite from last year (besides ourselves, of course) was a team of Fresians pulling a Roman style chariot. There is no end to the excitement at this fund raiser. Well, that's not true. It runs from 3pm to 6pm so I guess it does end eventually.

After a short break it's back on the road for shows in New York, Maine, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The only New England states we're missing are Vermont and New Hampshire. Ten straight weeks of shows dating back to June. Then it's time to get ready for The Connecticut Renaissance Faire where Paragon Jousting has been every year of our existence. As always, we're looking forward to returning to this show which is always exciting and full of surprises.

We'll see you at the Faire.

More news from the Midwest. It's the last day of June and we're halfway through our run at The Wisconsin Renaissance Faire and I can honestly say we're in no rush for it to end. Everyone has been wonderful in Chippewa Falls and we've had a lot of great feedback from both patrons, performers and management.

The most exciting news from the weekend comes from the Wisconsin State Board of Tourism. They spent Saturday morning filming Paragon Jousting for two hours as well as our mid-day show to use for a promotional video which will be shown in nine Midwestern states. Needless to say, we're very excited about this and can't wait to see the finished project.

Stepping on to the site of The Wisconsin Renaissance Faire, one quickly forgets this faire is only in it's second year. The site is beautiful with many hard structures set about. And dead smack in the middle is the Joust Field. Paragon Jousting performed 12 shows over a period of 4 days and we had a great time. We took this opportunity to try a lot of new things including an evil and manipulative Master of the List in Sir William Sidney. But the highlight of the second weekend was the return of Mucky Buckets the stable girl. The very popular Mistress Buckets is being played by Paragon Jousting veteran squire Sabrina Johnson. Everyone is very proud of Sabrina in her mounted debut. And with our head squire running around on horseback, that gave Elizabeth Imperiale a chance to shine as head squire for the day.

So far, we've had a great time in Wisconsin, everyone has been amazingly nice and after two weeks, we've got to know the lay of the land. We've been spending the time between shows doing training for both riders and horses and everyone, two legs or four, is making great progress. We've had great feedback from everyone on the site. We even ran into an old friend Smee of Smee and Blogg during the week. Now it's time to mix things up a bit for weekend three. Hope to see you there.

Scott, and our equine performers are on their way to The Wisconsin Renaissance Faire. The two day journey has begun and they expect to be in Chippewa Falls some time tomorrow. The rest of the crew will be flying out for this weekend and we're all looking forward to our first trip to this part of the country. We're looking forward to meeting our new fans.

In other news, Paragon Jousting has just booked another private camp show for August 10th in NY. Dates in July and August are filling up fast so if you're thinking about booking Paragon Jousting, sooner is far better than later. We can't wait to get out there and perform for you.

Today, I discovered the link to the Paragon Jousting promotional video was broken. I have fixed and tested this link and if you were trying to download the video and couldn't, now you should be able to. -- Webmaster, Paragon Jousting

A few bits of news. First of all, we've just added pictures from our recent show at the Hudson Valley Mayfaire to our Gallery Page. We've also updated the profile for Paragon Jousting's latest entry into jousting, Paladin who made his 2007 debut at HVMF.

In addition, Scott just flew back in from a visit to Wisconsin. He met with the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Renaissance Faire and toured the fairgrounds. He reports that the site is absolutely beautiful, and the directors of the faire are a really wonderful group. We're looking forward to this new show, and our departure for Chippewa Falls in just a few weeks time.

What an amazing two weekends we just had. Two weekends ago, members of Paragon Jousting participated in Becca Cooper's Senior Thesis at Wells College in Aurora, NY. This was a chance for some of our newest performers to get ready before we hit the road for our first faires of the season.

Which brings me to this past weekend. Paragon Jousting just returned from not one but TWO shows in the Empire State. One team was jousting in New Paltz, NY at the The Hudson Valley Mayfaire while the other was jousting in Ghent, NY at A Celebration of Celts. Both shows were great and saw many firsts.

In New Paltz, Becca Cooper, as Dame Fiona, rode Apollo in a joust against Scott Rodlin, as Sir Devon riding on Paladin who was making his jousting debut. Paladin performed in 2006 as a Master of the List horse and has made the transition to Jousting Horse in 2007. Also making their first appearances at a Renaissance Faire were rookie Master of the List BethAnne Nelson as Isolde MacCionaoith and our newest squire Elizabeth Imperiale as Lydia. Veteran staff members Seth Holmes, returning to his squiring roots, and Sabrina Johnson, acting as both Head Squire and Stable Master, rounded out the staff as squires Will and Kate respectively. The weather in New Paltz was a vast improvement over the previous year.

Meanwhile, an hour away in Ghent, old friend Robb Earhart rode as King Edward on his trusty steed Fred in a joust opposite David "Puck" Dowd as Robert the Bruce on Oberon. Rounding out the staff in Ghent were squires "Bloody" Mary Seward as Amelia and Carolyn Noren as Genevieve. All reports tell us this was a fantastic show which was enjoyed by all.

Notably absent was veteran squire Ken "Beorn" Turner aka "Tiny". Our condolences go to Beorn who was notified Friday of a death in his family. Our thoughts are all with Beorn during this time.

As we look upon a weekend which was filled with firsts and renewed spirit, we look forward to our many shows this year and look forward to our first trip to The Wisconsin Renaissance Faire in June and July. Then it's back on the road as we visit locations all over the tri-state area.

2007-03-16

Due to weather concerns, The Connecticut Renaissance Faire has withdrawn from the parade in Hartford this weekend. As such, Paragon Jousting will not be there either. We look forward to seeing everyone later this year.

2007-03-12

This weekend, Paragon Jousting will be participating in the Hartford St. Patrick's Day Parade with our friends from The Connecticut Renaissance Faire. The parade is Saturday, March 17th in downtown Hartford, CT. In previous years, we have marched with CTRF in the New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade. But a little change of scenery never hurts.

And for those of you who have been waiting to hear, we will be returning to perform in 2007 at CTRF in Hebron, CT Weekends and Columbus Day September 29 through Oct 21. We're looking forward to a return to this at which we've performed every year. We've got a long season between now and then. The Parade marks the start of the 2007 season, and the faire marks the end... for now.

This April, Paragon Jousting is headed to the Finger Lakes for the Wells College Renaissance Faire. On April 28th, Becca is presenting her senior performing arts thesis as a jousting actress. Horses, knights, sword fighting, lances, and a large cast of Wells College students joining many of your Paragon Jousting favorites: now that's a senior thesis project! Wells College in Aurora, New York is holding the Wells College Renaissance Faire as part of their annual Spring Weekend events. For more information about the Wells College Renaissance Faire, see our Schedule Page.

Scott is keeping the web master busy, but he doesn't mind at all.

Paragon Jousting has just signed on to exhibit at the Tri-State Camp Conference of the American Camp Association in Atlantic City, New Jersey. We had such a great time performing at summer camps over the past two summers that we decided to spread the joy. We've added new performers, some with two legs, some with four, as we'll be showing off what we can do for over 1000 camp directors over a period of three days. The dates are Wednesday through Friday, March 28-30 at the Atlantic City Convention Center. During the day, it'll be all business. And in the evenings, look out Casinos, here we come. (Rumor has it Jedi loves blackjack. Who knew?) This should be an exciting event and we look forward to meeting new people and performing at camp shows all over the north east. We'll be in booth 137.

BIG NEWS! Paragon Jousting is turning it's wagons westward as we invade the Wisconsin Renaissance Faire in Chippewa Falls this June and July. This is our furthest trip to date and we're looking forward to heading to this town rich in history. (Did you know they once had the largest sawmill in the world? Maybe we can get free lances.) Just over an hour from St Paul and Minneapolis in Minnesota, we'll have plenty of time to explore. The only thing Mister Mister wants to know is if he has to take his shoes off when he goes through airport security. (We haven't told him he's driving.) So join us Saturdays and Sundays June 16 through July 15 as we bring jousting to Wisconsin, Paragon style.

It's our first official announcement of 2007. Welcome!

Paragon Jousting is happy to announce we will be returning to Mitchell Farm in Lyme, CT on Saturday July 21 for their annual "Celebration of the Horse" event. We had a great time last September with displays by all kinds of working and performing horses including a roman chariot. But Paragon capped it all off with a display of games and jousting. We're looking forward to our return.

We also took advantage of the strange New England weather this past weekend to get some training done, specifically with Jedi and Paladin. Both humans and horses had a great time. It was a great weekend and a great weekend of work.

2006-12-17

Big announcement! Paragon Jousting has a new show in New York for 2007. We will be jousting for 2 days at the Celebration of Celts on May 5 and 6, 2007. We will be showcasing a joust between Robert the Bruce and King Edward of England. The show is in Ghent, New York, which is just off Rt I-90 on 9H south. More details to come.

We will also be returning to the Hudson Valley Mayfaire in 2007. This three day event is May 4, 5 and 6.

What's that you say? Two shows an hour apart on the same weekend? Can it be done? We're Paragon Jousting, of course it can. Paragon Jousting has experienced tremendous growth over the past year and we're proud to say we can be in two places at once. Paragon Jousting will be very busy in The Empire State in 2007.
