"Bloody" Mary Seward

Copyright 2004-2008 Paragon Jousting, LLC

Mary grew up on a small dairy farm in rural Vermont. Her family owned two horses and a pony, however, her time with them was limited. Experiences were few and far between. She recalls them being very tall and her basic handling knowledge consisted of knowing when to get out of their way. But that was before she joined Paragon Jousting.

Mary's brief performing career spans four years, two years as a regular performer at the Vermont Renaissance Festival, and working for Pastimes Productions in 2001 at The Robin Hood Faire at Hammond Castle.

In 2003, Mary was an assistant stage manager for The Connecticut Renaissance Faire. Then in 2004, she worked with the Autumn Tree Armored Combat Company assisting the armored fighters. She also served as a squire for the joust at that show.

Later that year at the Connecticut Renaissance Faire, she again served as a squire, and assisted in standardizing the much-evolved "Gaming Joust" show. She also took charge of making blood packs for performers scheduled to die. Her alarming enthusiasm for this job earned her the name "Bloody Mary".

2005 brought many changes, not the least of which was taking on more responsibility when she stepped up to take on another role, that of Head Squire. While her new duties keep her busy and on her toes organizing props and making sure the shows are on track, Mary still enjoys working with the horses during their training and improving her riding skills.
